Workouts and Good Tunes!

Music will literally move you! Yes, it's been shown in many studies that people exercise harder and longer when they have some good tunes to guide them. Since I've been teaching cycling and other fitness classes for 15+ years I can tell you, without a doubt, that this is indeed true.

Here's my playlist from the cycling class I taught this morning. Get the songs on your iPod and use them for your next work out on a bike or any other piece of cardio equipment!

Live Like We're Dying - Kris Allen (warm up)
Breakeven (Falling to Pieces) - The Script (rolling hill set)
Turn It Up - Stereos (standing aggressive climb)
Whip It - Devo (seated climb) *throw back song from the 80's
Down - Jay Sean & Lil Wayne (alternate seated and standing climb)
ChaChing - Hedley (road sprint)
Hot n' Cold - Katy Perry (seated climb - 40 sec baseline; 20 sec intense, REPEAT)
Give Him Up - Faber Drive (flat road)
American Honey - Lady Antebellum (cool down)

Try a spin class. Get out for a walk...or a run. Sign your kids up for a TriKids Triathlon or other kids sporting event in your area. You might event want to try a new sport that is emerging in Canada - stair climbing. Here are a few events that are showcasing stair climbing - 1st Annual Climb Off in Hamilton, ON and a Stair Climbing Workshop held in Oakville, ON.

Whatever your sport...get some tunes playing, get out and have fun!
